sab·bat·i·cal  səˈbadək(ə)l/ noun 1.a period of paid leave granted to a university teacher or other worker for study or travel, traditionally one year for every seven years worked.

After 15 years as missionaries in Guatemala, Manny and I were granted a sabbatical by our church board for the summer of 2018. So this past summer we did not host teams, but rather enjoyed a summer in the States. With seven grandchildren, ages newborn to age eight, we desired to spend time with family when the weather is nice. So we have camped with the family and spent time with them at their houses and ours.

Besides spending time with family, we also have been able to do some much needed repairs on the exterior of our house in Ohio, which has been somewhat neglected for some time. Manny is never short on projects to keep him busy!

As school was starting, Manny and I were privileged to head out for a road trip north and west to see some of God's beautiful creation that we have never seen.

Early in our time home, we were part of a missions conference with a dear church in Jacksonville, FL. There, God reminded us that we are ALL to be about our Father's business! God has been so faithful to our ministry in Guatemala and has given us such a unique opportunity to have huge impact through that ministry. We have committed to continue to host teams, and have booked teams for the summer of 2019.
We continue to have over 50 students sponsored by generous supporters from the States. We are preparing to head to Guatemala next month for the graduation and end-of-year activities and to prepare the uniforms and shoes for the next school year. We are so grateful to our faithful sponsors who are making such a huge difference in the lives of the precious students they sponsors! The annual cost is $400, which pays the tuition at the Christian school, buys their uniforms, shoes, and school supplies. We can use more sponsors, so if you are interested, please just send a text to Cindy at 937-830-1442, or send an email to You will get a picture and a letter from your child, and you can help break the cycle of poverty by providing a quality education in a Christian environment. Donations are tax deductible and can be paid via Pay Pal on our website or sent to 301 Sutton Rd. Xenia, OH 45385.

We ask for your prayers for us as we head back, and prayers for the continued ministry of Mission2Guatemala.
